APOLLO GALLERY REOPENS, BUT WITHOUT JEWELRY

PARIS, JULY 21 /SRNA/ - The Apollo Gallery in the Louvre museum, which was robbed in October 2025, is scheduled to reopen to the public tomorrow, but without the jewelry on display, French media reported.

The gallery had been closed since the robbery, and the stolen jewelry has not yet been found.

Museum director Christophe Leribault told the French newspaper Le Parisien that the "collections and precious objects" originally displayed in the Apollo Gallery have been removed to restore the prominence of the gallery's painted and sculpted wall decorations.

"We want visitors to be able to see it as the most magnificent room in the Louvre and to rediscover the part of the palace beneath the museum," Leribault said.

Leribault revealed that a secure, windowless room will be created elsewhere in the museum to store the jewelry that was not stolen during the robbery.

"This involves a very large-scale project, but we must find the ideal location and funding," Leribault noted.

Four burglars broke into the world-famous museum in broad daylight on October 19, 2025, and stole jewelry worth approximately 88 million euros before fleeing on motorcycles.

Four individuals suspected of direct involvement in the robbery have been charged and are currently in custody.

However, the stolen items are still missing, except for a crown that belonged to Empress Eugénie, which was found damaged near the museum and is currently being restored.
