ANTISEMITISM ON THE RISE

LONDON, AUGUST 5 /SRNA/ – A total of 1,926 antisemitic incidents were recorded across the United Kingdom between January and June this year, a 20 percent increase compared to the first half of last year, when 1,598 incidents were registered, according to a survey by the Community Security Trust /CST/.

This is the second-highest number of incidents reported to the CST during the first six months of any year, surpassed only by the first half of 2024, when 2,019 incidents were recorded.

UK Policing Minister Sarah Jones described the figures as "frightening", stressing that people are living in fear simply because they belong to the Jewish community.

During the first few months of 2026, a series of arson attacks targeted Jewish sites in London, including four ambulances, as well as a double stabbing in Golders Green that is being treated as an act of terrorism.

The CST, which monitors antisemitism in the United Kingdom, said the April 29 stabbing attack, in which two men were injured, triggered the highest single-day number of antisemitic incidents during the six-month period.

The CST recorded a total of 71 incidents in the three days following the attack, Germany's DPA news agency reported.

According to the CST, some of the incidents "celebrated the violence and called for further harm against Jewish people, or used the incident to promote antisemitic conspiracy theories and anti-Jewish abuse."

Meanwhile, the organisation said that in the week following February 28, which it identified as marking the beginning of the war against Iran by Israel and the United States, antisemitic incidents in the United Kingdom rose by 71 percent compared with the previous week - from 52 to 89.

CST Chief Executive Mark Gardner said the incidents detailed in the organisation's latest report "should concern everyone who cares about Great Britain and the threats it faces, whether directed from Iran or driven domestically by Islamists, the far right, the far left, or other ideological extremes."
