WASHINGTON, JUNE 6 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ – The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has prepared a system for detecting, tracking, and neutralizing drones at all facilities that will be used during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The FBI said it has given special priority to counter-drone capabilities.
"The Bureau has worked with federal partners and law enforcement agencies in host cities to ensure that all venues have the capacity to detect, track, and neutralize drones," the FBI announced.
The statement added that protecting the airspace above World Cup events is "just as important as security on the ground."
The Federal Aviation Administration announced in late May that, together with the Department of Homeland Security and the United States Department of Justice, it will impose temporary flight restrictions over stadiums hosting 2026 World Cup matches, as well as over fan zones across the country.
