WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 11 /SRNA - Reuters/ — Afghan national Nazira Haji Zada, accused of supporting the Islamic State terrorist organization, has been deported from the United States in the first case brought by the Justice Department before the Alien Terrorist Removal Court, which was established 30 years ago.

Zada, who held a residence visa in Texas, was deported after voluntarily withdrawing her appeal against a court ruling following her arrest in July, the Justice Department said.

Prosecutors accused her of helping conceal a failed plot to carry out an attack on Election Day 2024, which had been inspired by the Islamic State terrorist organization.

Her case was brought before a court that had not had an active case in decades, since Congress established it in 1996.
