AfD CALLS FOR BLOCKING KIEV'S EU AND NATO MEMBERSHIP

BERLIN, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ - The Alternative for Germany /AfD/ parliamentary group called on the German authorities to prevent Ukraine from joining the EU and NATO and to refrain from providing military guarantees to Kyiv, according to a resolution published on the Bundestag's website.

"Ukraine must never become a member of NATO, Ukraine must never become a member of the EU, and Germany must never commit to providing military assistance to Ukraine," said Markus Frohnmaier, Deputy Chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag.

AfD lawmakers said that continued provision on assistance under the EU Treaty to Ukraine could lead to a conflict with Russia.

The resolution calls for rejecting even associate membership of Ukraine in the EU or similar forms of integration, and particularly for ruling out its full membership in the Union.

The lawmakers believe that the focus should be exclusively on economic cooperation with Kyiv and enabling Ukrainian goods to be sold on the EU market, provided they meet European standards.

The AfD parliamentary group also believes that Germany should not allocate funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
