83 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR BEING LINED TO ISLAMIC STATE

ANKARA, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ – Turkish authorities detained 83 people in 28 provinces suspected of being linked to Islamic State extremists, the Turkish Ministry of Interior announced.

The Ministry said in its X post that those detained were suspected of being members of Islamic State, as well as of financing the organisation through affiliated individuals and alleged charitable organisations.

The suspects are also accused of spreading the group's propaganda on social media.

The operations were carried out by provincial counterterrorism units of the gendarmerie on the orders of the offices of chief public prosecutors, DPA reports.

Islamic State is considered responsible for a number of deadly attacks in Turkey in recent years. Turkish authorities said they have intensified operations against the group's networks and financing across the country over the past several months.
