5.1-MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HITS EASTERN TURKEY

ANKARA, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ - An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit eastern Turkey, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre /EMSC/ reported.

The earthquake occurred at around 9:00 a.m. local time, 29 kilometers from the city of Şanlıurfa.

The epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to EMSC data, the tremor was felt in several provinces, including Diyarbakır, Adıyaman and Şanlıurfa, with the strongest intensity reported in Diyarbakır.

The earthquake was also felt in Syria and Iraq.
