27 DEAD IN TWO SEPARATE SHOOTINGS

JOHANNESBURG, SEPTEMBER 27 /SRNA/ - A total of 27 people were killed in two separate shootings in South Africa, police said.

The first shooting took place last night at a tavern west of Johannesburg, where gunmen killed 17 people, including 13 men and four women.

The attackers opened fire on patrons both outside and inside the premises using handguns and AK-47 assault rifles, before fleeing the scene.

An investigation has been launched, but no arrests have been made so far.

The second shooting took place early this morning near Cape Town, killing 10 people and injuring 11 others.

Police said armed attackers entered a fast-food outlet and opened fire.

Local police have launched an investigation into murder and attempted murder.
