HONG KONG, SEPTEMBER 19 /SRNA/ – Hong Kong Customs said on Saturday that it had seized 535 kilograms of cannabis buds on September 2 and arrested three people in connection with the case.
The customs service said it was a record seizure of drugs transported by sea, with the cannabis estimated to be worth $16 million.
Based on risk assessment and intelligence analysis, customs officers selected a 12-meter container for inspection. The shipment, declared as containing boxes, had arrived in Hong Kong from Thailand.
The cannabis buds were packed in vacuum-sealed bags and hidden inside the boxes, Xinhua reported.
