11 PEOPLE KILLED IN SHOOTING DURING PARTY

DURBAN, SEPTEMBER 23 /SRNA/ - At least 11 people were killed and three others injured in a shooting during a late-night party in South Africa, police said.

Three armed men broke into a house in the village of KwaMakutha, near the southeastern coastal city of Durban.

Police said 10 people were killed at the scene, including a woman believed to have been pregnant, while another victim died in hospital from injuries sustained in the attack.

A search for the perpetrators is underway, while the motive for the attack is not yet known, DPA reported.

Some of the victims were previously known to police in connection with illegal activities, raising the possibility that the attack was linked to a conflict between rival criminal groups.
