SERBIA CLAIMS WATER POLO BRONZE AT MEDITERRANEAN GAMES

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 3 /SRNA/ – Serbia's water polo team won the bronze medal at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto after defeating Spain 12-8 /5-2, 3-3, 2-2, 2-1/ in the third-place match.

The most efficient for Serbia team was Vasilije Martinović with six goals, while Bogdan Gavrilović scored twice. Đorđe Vučinić, Nemanja Stanojević, Dušan Trtović and Vuk Milojević each scored once.

Goalkeeper Milan Glušac made eight saves.

Serbia finished the Mediterranean Games in Taranto with 36 medals, surpassing its previous record of 35 medals won in Pescara in 2009.

Of the 36 medals, Serbian athletes won seven gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze medals.

The closing ceremony of the 20th Mediterranean Games in Taranto is scheduled for 8 p.m. tonight.
