RUSSIAN ATHLETES ALLOWED TO COMPETE IN 12 OLYMPIC SPORTS UNDER NATIONAL FLAG

ST. PETERSBURG, JUNE 7 /SRNA–RIA Novosti/ – Russian athletes are permitted to compete under the national flag and anthem in 12 Olympic sports, astated Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

“Adult athletes are fully allowed to compete with the flag, anthem, and national symbols in 12 Olympic sports: judo and wrestling, swimming, artistic swimming, diving and water polo, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics, boxing, taekwondo, and fencing,” Chernyshenko said.

He added that Russia has observed a willingness to engage in dialogue with the International Olympic Committee.
