NIKOLINA JASIKOVAC WINS BRONZE AT THE BALKAN CHAMPIONSHIPS IN BUDVA

ZVORNIK/BUDVA, MAY 10 /SRNA/ - Nikolina Jasikovac, a member of the youth judo club Sokolovi from Zvornik, won a bronze medal at the Balkan Cadet Championships in Budva.

Ognjen Pavlović, president of the Assembly of the Zvornik club, told SRNA that Nikolina opened the tournament with a confident victory over a Turkish national team competitor.

"Although she suffered a loss in her second match against a representative of Greece, in which, according to the coaching staff's assessment, she was significantly disadvantaged by refereeing decisions, that did not shake her, because through the repechage she secured victories over competitors from Romania and another representative of Turkey," Pavlović said.

He emphasized that the highlight of the day came in the final block, where Nikolina faced the Greek competitor again and this time did not allow the judges to decide the outcome.

Stressing that Nikolina reached the podium in an impressive manner, showing steel determination and top-level preparation, Pavlović said that her competition day yesterday lasted a full 12 hours.

"This success represents the continuity of top-level results for the youth judo club Sokolovi," Pavlović said, who also serves as president of the Judo FBiH.

The Balkan Cadet Judo Championships in Budva, one of the most significant sporting events for young athletes in the region, runs from May 8 to May 10.
