ABU DHABI, NOVEMBER 30 /SRNA/ – Serbia’s judo national team member Nemanja Majdov from Istočno Sarajevo won a bronze medal at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in the under-90 kg category.
In the bronze-medal match, Majdov defeated South Korea’s Kim Jong-hoon, bringing joy to Republika Srpska and Serbia with yet another medal on the world stage.
“Six tough matches, thank God we managed to win a major Grand Slam medal. Thank you all for the support, and big greetings to Republika Srpska and Serbia,” Majdov told SRNA.
He noted that he first defeated a Russian competitor representing the United Arab Emirates, then an athlete from Uzbekistan, followed by a Brazilian, adding that he broke his finger in that match, which made the remaining bouts more difficult.
He still managed to win bronze, he said, after beating a Greek competitor, and finally defeating the South Korean representative in the bronze-medal match.
