MADRID, NOVEMBER 4 /SRNA/ – Former tennis star Rafael Nadal has joined the board of directors of Spanish football giants Real Madrid.
The club's board met today and agreed to submit Nadal's appointment as a new board member to the General Assembly for ratification.
Nadal won 22 Grand Slam titles during his career, including a record 14 at Roland Garros.
He retired in 2024, Germany's DPA news agency reported.
Nadal has often spoken of his childhood love for Real Madrid, even though his uncle and coach, Miguel Angel Nadal, played for Barcelona.
Nadal has been an honorary member of Real Madrid for many years and is a regular at matches at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
"I want to thank Real Madrid President Florentino Perez and the board for proposing that I join the club's board of directors. I accepted the offer with great excitement, eager to learn and willing to contribute," Nadal posted on X.
