ĐOKOVIĆ ADVANCES TO BEIJING FINAL FOLLOWING MEDVEDEV DEFAULT

BEIJING, OCTOBER 5 /SRNA/ - Serbia's Novak Đoković advanced to the final of the ATP tournament in Beijing on Monday after Russia's Daniil Medvedev was disqualified for hitting a spectator with a ball during their match.

In the ninth game of the second set, with Đoković serving at 15-15, Medvedev struck a ball after losing a point and hit a spectator in the head.

The incident occurred with Đoković leading 7-5, 5-3.

The chair umpire stopped the match and disqualified the Russian.

Đoković recorded his 33rd victory in as many matches at the Beijing tournament.

It was the 16th meeting between the Serbian and Russian players and Đoković's 11th victory. He will face Australia's Alex de Minaur in tomorrow's final.

The ATP tournament in Beijing has a prize fund of $4,089,385.
