BANJA LUKA, APRIL 30 /SRNA/ – The head of the Association of Serbs Expelled from Croatia "Krajina" Krsta Žarković told SRNA that the adoption of the announced amendments to the Law on Rights of War Veterans, War Invalids, and Families of Fallen Soldiers will restore dignity both to the living and to the fallen soldiers of Republika Srpska Krajina.

Žarković says that this law, which recognises the soldiers of Republika Srpska Krajina as having the status of Republika Srpska soldiers, simultaneously unifies and strengthens the Serb body in these areas.

He emphasized that the struggle to gain recognition of this status has been long-term and marked by misunderstanding, even though it is known that members of the Republika Srpska Krajina Army, as well as the Republika Srpska Army, fought for the same values – freedom and security for Serbs in these areas.

"After 31 years, members of the armed forces of Republika Srpska Krajina have been included in the proposed Amendments to the Law on Rights of War Veterans, expecting it to be adopted at the next session of the Republika Srpska National Assembly," Žarković stated.

The Minister of Labour, War Veterans and Disabled Persons Protection of Republika Srpska Radan Ostojić previously stated that the proposed Amendments to the Law on Rights of War Veterans should be reviewed at the next session of the Republika Srpska National Assembly.
