DOBOJ, MAY 23 /SRNA/ - A wreath was laid today in Doboj at the monument to six Portuguese soldiers who were killed during a mission in BiH.
The wreath was laid on behalf of the City Administration by the heads of the municipal departments for urban planning and general administration, Dragan Petković and Vedran Simić.
The monument to the six Portuguese soldiers is located in the Park of National Heroes, and the tribute was paid on the occasion of May 23, which is celebrated in Portugal as Paratroopers’ Day.
The memorial plaque bears the names of soldiers who were killed between 1996 and 2004.
The Armed Forces of Portugal, with the support of the city of Doboj, erected a monument to their personnel who took part in peace support operations in BiH.
As a sign of respect for the contribution of the Portuguese armed forces to supporting peace in BiH, the Doboj Elementary Music School is named “Marcos Portugal.”
