VUČIĆ GREETED BY DODIK AT BIRTHPLACE OF ST. BASIL OF OSTROG

TREBINJE, JANUARY 5 /SRNA/ – SNSD President Milorad Dodik welcomed the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić in the village of Mrkonjići, the birthplace of St. Basil of Ostrog.

His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and the Littoral informed Dodik and Vučić about the history and significance of this sacred site.

Dodik and Vučić will tour the Orthodox Spiritual Center in Popovo Polje, for whose construction the Government of Serbia has provided BAM 800,000.

The complex was built on the foundations of the birthplace and land of St. Basil.

Works on the second phase are under way, while the construction and fresco painting of the church, accommodation for the monastic community, and accompanying facilities have already been completed.

This is one of the capital projects being developed in the Trebinje area, financed by the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska, as well as the Trebinje City Administration.

A total of around BAM 2.5 million has been planned for the construction of the Spiritual Center.

Dodik and Vučić will also attend today the ceremonial opening of the newly built hospital in Trebinje.
