VIŠEGRAD, JULY 2 /SRNA/ – Divna Vasić from Višegrad found a wallet a few days ago near the new bridge containing 1,800 euros, an identity card, a driver's license, bank cards and other personal documents, and immediately took it to the Višegrad Police Station and handed it over.
Through her actions, she demonstrated that humanity, integrity and honesty are values beyond price.
"When I saw that the wallet contained a substantial amount of money along with all the documents, I went straight to the Višegrad Police Station and handed it in. I never considered doing anything else because I believe that was the only right thing to do," Vasić told SRNA.
She said that duty officer Dragoslav Matović responded immediately and professionally, contacted the wallet's owner, who had already reached Foča with his family from Kragujevac on their way to their summer vacation, and informed him that his wallet and all of its contents had been found.
"The owner later contacted me at the police station. He was very grateful because, besides the 1,800 euros, the wallet contained all of his personal documents. He told me he would remember Višegrad for its good people, and that was the greatest reward for me," Vasić said.
She expressed special gratitude to duty officer Dragoslav Matović and the officers of the Višegrad Police Station for their prompt, professional and humane response.
"I am grateful to the police for reacting immediately and helping return the wallet to its owner. I hope they continued their vacation without any worries and that they will take away only the fondest memories of Višegrad," Vasić said.
Her gesture once again showed that honesty, kindness and responsibility are values for which Višegrad is known, ensuring that one family from Kragujevac will remember the town for its good people and for the noble act of a woman from Višegrad.
