FOČA, MARCH 3 /SRNA/ - The University Hospital Foča will install four solar panels with a capacity of 380 kilowatt-hours of electricity, and the funds will be secured in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers.
“Our intention is for these capacities to be installed as early as August or September,” said Staša Košarac, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, after a meeting with the hospital’s director, Nenad Lalović.
Staša Košarac said that drafting the project documentation cost €20,000, that the total investment amounts to $300,000, and that the Ministry secured one third of the funds through the Green Climate Fund as support for improving energy efficiency.
Director Lalović stated that the hospital spends more than BAM 200,000 annually on electricity costs, and that the solar panels will be installed on four buildings, for which approval has been obtained from the line ministry.
“One third of the funds was secured by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, and we will provide the rest. We will also try to obtain additional funding through certain funds; if not, the hospital will cover the remaining amount from its own resources,” Lalović stated.
He added that the solar panels are expected to generate savings of between BAM 150,000 and BAM 200,000.
The meeting also addressed the storage and disposal of infectious waste within the hospital complex, for which the hospital and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations will, in a similar manner, seek to secure funding through international organizations and institutions of Republika Srpska.
