YEKATERINBURG, SEPTEMBER 15 /SRNA/ – Young people from Serbia and Republika Srpska proudly displayed Serb flags in Russia, at the World Youth Summit in Yekaterinburg, and jointly marked the holiday symbolizing the unity of the Serb people, freedom, and national identity preservation.
"Images of Serb flags in Yekaterinburg sent a symbolic but powerful message that, wherever they may be, Serbs proudly preserve their identity, their flag, and their sense of belonging to a common people," the Association of Serbs from the Drina announced.
They emphasized that it is particularly symbolic that the Unity of Serbs Day was marked precisely in the friendly Russian Federation - a country with which the Serb people shares deep historical, spiritual, cultural, and fraternal ties.
"Jointly marking the holiday with /Director of Serbia’s parliamentary Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy/ Arnaud Gouillon and Russian friends is yet another confirmation of the traditional friendship between the Serb and Russian peoples," the statement said.
Association Head Filip Pajić stressed that the Serb and Russian peoples are connected by a friendship that has withstood numerous historical challenges.
"Our generation has an obligation not to view that friendship merely as part of the past, but to further develop it and leave it even stronger for the generations to come," Pajić said.
The World Youth Summit is a major international event that brings together young people, representatives of organisations, and social leaders from various countries. The Russian Federation finances the entire organisation of the event and the participants’ stay.
