SRBAC, AUGUST 15 /SRNA/ - At an extraordinary session today, the Srbac Municipal Assembly unanimously adopted the conclusion on accepting the Declaration of the Association of Municipalities and Cities of Republika Srpska regarding the verdict against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.

The first extraordinary session was attended by 17 councilors from the coalition comprising the SNSD, United Srpska, DNS, and the “Srbac – Our City” Coalition; councilors from the opposition SDS and PDP were not present.

The President of the Srbac Municipal Assembly, Dejan Dević, emphasized that this parliament had a moral obligation to adopt the Declaration, which expresses strong condemnation of the politically motivated verdict against President Dodik, stressing the sovereignty of the people of Republika Srpska.

Dević thanked all councilors for the responsibility they demonstrated.

The Mayor of Srbac, Mlađan Dragosavljević, noted that the verdict against President Dodik is politically motivated and unconstitutional, and that Republika Srpska cannot accept such a verdict, which is, to say the least, problematic and politically charged.

He reminded that 23,752 lives were lost in the defense of Republika Srpska, stressing that this is too high a price for the Serb people to allow the undermining of what was created in the most difficult of circumstances.

"Republika Srpska is the guarantee of our survival in this region. All these events have been systematically planned, and we must stand united in defense of Republika Srpska," Dragosavljević stated.

According to him, this is not a matter of an individual, but of Republika Srpska and its institutions.

The session was also attended by Milorad Kojić, a member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, who emphasized the significance of the session and the protection of the constitutional order.

"This session is historic because, by adopting the Declaration, the councilors, as elected representatives of the people, have clearly and unequivocally sent a message that protecting the constitutional and legal order of Republika Srpska – and thus the Dayton arrangement of BiH – is the highest priority. Only in this way can we preserve Republika Srpska," Kojić emphasized.

He also reminded the public of the importance of the Constitution of Republika Srpska, adopted on February 28, 1992, which was preserved during the war and later incorporated into the Dayton Peace Agreement.

"Today's generations of politicians have an obligation to preserve what was defended during the war – the constitutional position of Republika Srpska. This was reaffirmed today by the unanimous votes of the ruling coalition councilors, without the opposition, thus expressing the will of the citizens of Republika Srpska," Kojić stated.

On Friday, August 8, the Association of Municipalities and Cities of Republika Srpska adopted a Declaration stating that the verdict against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik does not reflect the spirit of law or principles of justice, but is an act of political pressure aimed at influencing the democratic will of the people and the legitimacy of Republika Srpska’s institutions.
