ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ - The visit of Donald Trump Jr. to Banja Luka confirmed that U.S. companies are interested in investing in Republika Srpska, economist Marko Đogo stated.

"Until a few years ago, it was inconceivable that any American company would do anything here. But now you can see that they are interested in the Southern Interconnection and have announced financing of highways," Đogo told SRNA.

He said that this is an opportunity for Republika Srpska, which, as he noted, is small relative to the size of American capital.

According to him, American companies could invest in the energy sector in Republika Srpska, specifically in the construction of data centers, which would be an investment in the range of several billion KM.

"We have natural resources, and what Donald Trump Jr. connected, and what seems realistic to me, is to use that new energy to power data centers," Đogo stated.

He added that most data centers are concentrated in the Gulf countries, and that the conflict between Iran and the U.S. in the Middle East has jeopardized their electricity supply.

Đogo emphasized that the image of Republika Srpska in business circles has drastically changed recently, as evidenced by this visit of Trump Jr., and reminded that until a year ago, Republika Srpska was treated by foreign media and investors as a rebellious region under informal sanctions.

"Now, suddenly, we have the opposite situation, where Republika Srpska is becoming an area where capital connected to the U.S. leadership is being invested, which means that sanctions are unlikely, and this sends a message to all investors," Đogo pointed out.
