EAST SARAJEVO, MARCH 28 /SRNA/ - Several households have been evacuated in Laktaši, where a state of emergency has been declared due to heavy rainfall and river overflowing, the acting director of the Republic Civil Protection Administration Boris Trninić told SRNA.
Trninić said that the Vrbas River is rising and that there have been isolated instances of agricultural land flooding.
He emphasized that the Civil Protection water rescue team is in the Banja Luka area to assist with the evacuation of residents if necessary.
According to him, Civil Protection teams have focused on Banja Luka, Laktaši, and Doboj.
Trninić says that the first level of flood protection preparedness has been declared in Prijedor after the water levels of the Sana and Gomjenica rivers rose, adding that the situation is being monitored.
He also says that traffic has been suspended in several locations across Republika Srpska due to landslides and torrential streams that have disrupted road communication.
