TRIŠIĆ BABIĆ: SACHS' VISIT SHOWS SRPSKA'S EXPERTISE IS RECOGNIZED ABROAD

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 27 /SRNA/ - Acting Director of the Republika Srpska Office for International Cooperation Ana Trišić Babić said she was pleased that Professor Jeffrey Sachs had accepted an honorary doctorate from the University of Banja Luka and would share his knowledge and experience with students and the academic community in Srpska.

"Professor Jeffrey Sachs' visit to Banja Luka and Republika Srpska is of great importance. He is one of the world's best-known economists, a Columbia University professor and a figure whose views are respected around the world," Trišić Babić wrote on X.

She stressed that Banja Luka was increasingly becoming a place where prominent international experts, scientists and people with extensive global experience meet.

"This confirms that Republika Srpska has something to offer and that its institutions, universities and professional expertise are being recognized beyond our borders as well. We will continue opening Republika Srpska to cooperation with the world, while protecting our interests and building a society that places knowledge, education and development at the heart of its progress," Trišić Babić said.

Jeffrey Sachs, one of the world's best-known economists and a professor at Columbia University, met today with senior Republika Srpska officials at the Republika Srpska Government headquarters in Banja Luka. He is due to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Banja Luka tomorrow.
