BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 25 /SRNA/ - The leadership of Republika Srpska has recently intensified its promotion of Srpska, its constitutional position, and the original Dayton Agreement, with the aim of making the voice of Republika Srpska heard and ensuring its rights, guaranteed by Dayton, are respected, stated the Acting Director of the Republika Srpska Office for International Cooperation, Ana Trišić Babić.
Trišić Babić noted that Sarajevo and some other cities in the region act as if Banja Luka has no say in anything, violating the Dayton Agreement. However, Republika Srpska is an integral part of the Dayton Peace Agreement and, under that agreement, was granted a high degree of autonomy.
"Recently, and especially over the past three or four years, as the 'attacks' began, and as we here noticed and felt that there is a desire for Srpska to disappear, to be annulled, leading to a gross violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and pushing us to a point where Srpska ceases to exist, a strong promotion of Srpska and Dayton was launched. These were all signals for us to activate, especially in the new geopolitical circumstances since 2020, when major shifts began taking place on the global map," Trišić Babić told RTRS.
She emphasized that this was recognized in the US, which led to a change in American policy toward the region and toward Republika Srpska as an area inhabited by the Serbian people.
