TIJANA BOŠKOVIĆ JERSEY AUCTION RAISES €2,000 FOR VEDAR OSMIJEH IN BILEĆA

BELGRADE, AUGUST 17 /SRNA/ - A signed jersey of Tijana Bošković, one of the world's top volleyball players, was sold at auction for €2,000, with the proceeds donated to Vedar Osmijeh, an association of parents and friends of children and young people with developmental difficulties in her hometown of Bileća.

Dajana Aleksić of the Bileća Heritage Club in Serbia told SRNA that the jersey was bought by a woman from Smederevo who lives in New York and is a great admirer of the famous Bileća native.

“She made a wonderful gesture - she donated even more than the amount raised at the auction to Vedar Osmijeh,” Aleksić said.

She added that the jersey bearing number 18, in which Bošković rose to fame, will be framed, protected with glass and personally delivered to the family in Smederevo.

Aleksić stressed that the Vedar Osmijeh association has around 60 beneficiaries, for whom the money will mean a great deal.

She also noted that the renowned volleyball player has consistently supported Bileća and that, several years ago, she herself made a valuable financial donation to Vedar Osmijeh.

“Recently, Tijana’s volleyball shoes were also auctioned in Bileća, so this is not the first initiative through which she has helped Vedar Osmijeh. She helps many other associations and individuals in Bileća as well,” Aleksić said.

Aleksić reminded that the Hercegovac Volleyball Club is active in Bileća and that it was there that Tijana Bošković began her journey to the top of world volleyball.

She noted that the Bileća Heritage Club in Serbia had carried out many initiatives for Bileća in 2026 alone, including delivering aid packages to nun Hristina at Korita Monastery and making a financial donation towards the renovation of the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos in Hodžići.

“About two weeks ago, we donated a large number of books to the school library of the Bileća Grammar School, and we had this jersey auction... We are constantly carrying out initiatives to support Bileća,” Aleksić said.

The latest online auction was initiated by the Bileća Heritage Club in Serbia. Aleksić also reminded that Tijana's jersey was auctioned at a traditional gathering in Belgrade in November 2023, with the proceeds donated to Bileća-based Sveti Vukašin Association.
