THREE BEST ENTRIES SELECTED ON THE THEME OF PATRON SAINT’S DAY/KRSNA SLAVA

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ - A panel of experts selected the three best entries from a total of 32 submissions to the Đurađ Ljubavić Graphic Arts Competition on the theme of Patron Saint's Day/Krsna Slava, organised by the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska under the auspices of Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić.

The panel, comprising Chairwoman Irena Medar Tanjga and members Ivana Dojčinović, Milica Rudić, Marko Kelečević and Danijela Joksimović Vuković, selected the winning entries in this year’s competition. The first prize of BAM 3,000 went to Maja Grabovica, the second prize of BAM 2,000 to Andreja Gatarić, and the third prize of BAM 1,500 to Jovana Đekić.

The panel also gave special commendations to Anja Gašanović and Miloš Lučić for works that uniquely combine traditional motifs with contemporary artistic expression.

The theme of this year’s competition was Patron Saint's Day/Krsna Slava — an element of intangible cultural heritage and a source of inspiration for contemporary graphic expression.

A total of 32 entries were submitted, with the panel highlighting the high level of creativity and technical execution, as well as the participants’ thoughtful approach to the given theme.

Professor Irena Medar Tanjga, Chairwoman of the panel, praised all the students who entered the competition, particularly given that the competition was held during the summer.

“The large number of entries submitted is evidence of the students’ interest, as well as their creativity and willingness to present a traditional theme in a contemporary and original way. The students offered a variety of successful visual solutions, demonstrating a good understanding of the symbolism of Patron Saint's Day and its key elements, while particularly successfully adapting traditional motifs to a contemporary graphic style,” Medar Tanjga said.

The Official Gazette of Republika Srpska congratulated the winning authors and thanked the competition participants for their creativity and contribution to the contemporary graphic representation of traditional motifs.

The date and venue of the award ceremony will be announced later.
