SURGEON STANKO BAĆO WILL PARTICIPATE IN EUROPEAN CONGRESSES IN LEIPZIG AND PORTO

PRIJEDOR, MARCH 17 /SRNA/ – Stanko Baćo, a surgeon at the Dr. Mladen Stojanović Hospital in Prijedor, who will present two scientific papers at European surgurey congresses in Leipzig and Porto, told SRNA that it is extremely important for Republika Srpska doctors to be part of the European scientific community.

At the 143rd German Surgery Congress, to be held between April 22 and 24 in Leipzig, Baćo will present a case of complex chest and abdominal injuries caused by self-inflicted scissor stab wounds in a patient with post-traumatic stress disorder.

"This is my third participation in the German Surgery Congress over the past four years, which is officially the largest and most important surgery congress in Europe. I gave one lecture at the congress in Munich in 2023, and at the same event in the same city last year, I gave two lectures," said Baćo.

At the 48th European Hernia Society's annual international congress, to be held between June 3 and 5 in Porto, Baćo will present a case of an extremely complicated inguinal hernia with sepsis, which will be the third consecutive year he presents his work at the largest international gathering of surgeons specializing in hernias in Europe, following Prague in 2024 and Paris in 2025.

"Participation in international congresses in Leipzig and Porto represents a great professional honour, but also a significant financial challenge, as the costs of registration, travel, and accommodation for a single congress often exceed EUR 1,000 and are entirely self-funded. Despite this, I believe it is extremely important for our doctors to be part of the European scientific community," Baćo emphasized.
