BANJA LUKA, JUNE 20 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Labour, War Veterans and Disabled Persons Protection of Republika Srpska Radan Ostojić has supported an initiative by the Panthers Guard War Veterans Association to permanently ban the wartime flag of the so-called Army of BiH in Republika Srpska and to regulate it through legislation.

“Every initiative must have a legal framework. I support this and will always support it, because everything that offends them also offends me,” Ostojić told the press in Banja Luka.

He explained that any prohibition must be legally grounded and implemented in a lawful and legitimate manner, rather than individuals taking justice into their own hands.

Ostojić assessed that the initiative is a good one, stating that there is little difference between the wartime flag and the one the FBiH used as its official symbol during the war, although distinctions are often made.

“Whether it is a wartime flag or any other symbol that offends the national interests of the Serb people, our victims, and everything we gave for freedom, I agree that it should be banned,” Ostojić said.

He recalled that members of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior still take measures today when the Serb people are insulted, including filing reports and confiscating flags of the so-called Army of BiH.
