JAHORINA, AUGUST 10 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska, Denis Šulić, welcomed on Sunday evening on Jahorina the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, Sherif Fathi Attia, who began his official visit to BiH with a visit to Republika Srpska.

Šulić stressed that this evening’s meeting sends an important message that Republika Srpska is open.

“We know how important Egypt is in tourism and that it is a key sector for economic development. Egypt is a country with great potential and a huge number of tourists who should come to Republika Srpska,” Šulić told reporters.

Šulić stated that this meeting is just one in a series for everything planned regarding cooperation with Egypt.

“The Egyptian market is huge, and we welcome the establishment of direct air routes, which will make it easier for tourists to come to both Republika Srpska and BiH. I am convinced that tourists from Egypt will discover all the potential of Republika Srpska,” Šulić said.

The Egyptian minister expressed his delight with Jahorina and what has been built on the mountain.

“There is great potential for the development of both winter and summer tourism,” Attia said.

In addition to Šulić, the Egyptian delegation was welcomed on Jahorina by children in traditional Serbian folk costumes, with bread and salt, and a formal dinner was held at the “Olimp Bar” at the top of Jahorina.

The director of the Olympic Center “Jahorina,” Dejan Ljevnaić, expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to present the Olympic beauty, Jahorina, to the Egyptian delegation.

“Jahorina is one of the rare mountains, perhaps the only one in Europe, that has 26 attractions during the summer. The summer potential is great, and I think we have made use of it,” Ljevnaić said.

He noted that until seven years ago, Jahorina had a turnover of only BAM 4,000 during the summer, while last season it was BAM 2,700,000.

“This season, we expect it will be even better. The mountain is full. So far, we have had more than 50,000 guests,” Ljevnaić said.

The Ambassador of BiH to Egypt, Sabit Subašić, said that this visit by the Egyptian delegation is very significant.

“This is the first minister from the Egyptian government to visit BiH, and I am glad that it is the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, because that is truly a broad and huge ministry in Egypt,” Subašić said.

He said that preparations for developing tourism exchange have been underway for about a year and a half.

“We have had influencers here, then tour operators. A much larger number of tourists from BiH are visiting Egypt, and we want to balance that a bit,” Subašić said, adding that this meeting will be a good basis for continuing cooperation.
