SRBAC, JULY 8 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska, Zoran Stevanović, stated today in Srbac that Republika Srpska is the largest construction site in the region when it comes to road infrastructure.
"New road routes and new highway sections are being built. We are very close to realizing the goal of having the entire route of the Prijedor-Sremska Rača highway, that is, Prijedor-Belgrade, covered by an active construction site," Stevanović told reporters.
He reminded that works on the rehabilitation of the Srbac–Laktaši road route began today, explaining that it is a cross-sectional roadway that will complete the Doboj-Šešlije, Šešlije-Derventa, and Derventa-Srbac sections.
"We expect to move forward. Road construction companies in Republika Srpska now have contracted jobs for the next two to three years. We are moving forward into new investment cycles to jumpstart the brief lull that was present during the financial sanctions against Republika Srpska," Stevanović concluded.
Stevanović attended a ceremony in Srbac marking the start of the rehabilitation of a 30-kilometer section of the Laktaši-Srbac regional road. The ceremony was also attended by the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić, SNSD President Milorad Dodik, Acting Director of the "Putevi Srpske" enterprise Miroslav Janković, Mayor of Laktaši Miroslav Bojić, and the Mayor of Srbac Municipality Mlađan Dragosavljević.
Representatives of Republika Srpska in joint institutions, as well as representatives of the political and public life of Srbac and Laktaši, were also present.
