PALE, AUGUST 22 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska is currently exposed to the greatest pressures since its creation, and this is the ultimate and crucial moment to reach a unified position in defending its institutions, said National Assembly deputy Aco Stanišić in a statement to SRNA.
Stanišić emphasized that it is extremely unnecessary under the current circumstances to bring personal relations and frustrations into the public sphere, as they contribute to nothing except giving additional wind in the sails to foreigners to continue and intensify pressure on Srpska.
"The referendum is the right of Republika Srpska and its citizens to send a clear message that they do not accept others making decisions on their behalf. The referendum threatens no one; on the contrary, it protects the dignity of the Constitution and the institutions of Srpska, and that is, after all, the role of all participants in the political process, regardless of whether they are currently in government or in the opposition," said Stanišić.
He stressed that Republika Srpska must send a clear and unified response to all those who wish to take away its competencies and annul its existence and right to self-determination, because anything else is not a defeat for the current government but for Republika Srpska.
"It is the ultimate moment for the opposition to realize this and to stop treating everything that happens as personal matters of President Milorad Dodik. This kind of stance only feeds the ego of Christian Schmidt and his bosses, while all of us, including them, are losing – and not something small or insignificant, but the most important thing we have – Republika Srpska," Stanišić concluded.
