BANJA LUKA, JULY 7 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska was represented at the Ivan Kupala Slavic Cultural Festival in Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan, the Representation of Srpska in the Russian Federation announced.
The Ivan Kupala Festival, dedicated to the summer solstice, gathered numerous participants and visitors in the Berezovaya Roshcha Park in Zelenodolsk. Srpska was represented by a delegation from the municipality of Jezero and a performance by the ethno-group Biseri Plive.
The concert program featured folklore ensembles from Tatarstan, the Vyazanka ensemble from Belarus, and the Biseri Plive ethno-group from Republika Srpska, while the main musical star of the festival was the Belarusian ensemble Syabry.
Workshops, folk dances, and traditional Kupala rituals were also organized for visitors, and the Festival concluded with the floating of wreaths on the water and a fire performance.
On behalf of the Rais of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, the attendees were addressed by the Honorary Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan, Farid Mukhametshin.
The invitation for the delegation from Republika Srpska to participate followed last year's visit by an official Tatarstan delegation to Banja Luka, when representatives of Zelenodolsk and the municipality of Jezero agreed to establish cooperation.
