BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 5 /SRNA/ - SNSD's victory in the general elections is proof that the Serb people know how to recognize policies of stability in Republika Srpska based on respect for and preservation of the Dayton Peace Accords, and therefore stability in BiH and the region, the Republika Srpska Centre for Social and Political Research said.
The Centre said the victories of Savo Minić for President of Republika Srpska and Željka Cvijanović for Serb member of the BiH Presidency were expected and strong, given the sovereignist policies they pursue, as were SNSD's victories in the elections for the National Assembly of Republika Srpska and the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
The Centre said this meant a continuation of Republika Srpska's policies, which it said had been preserved in previous years despite strong attacks by what it described as anti-sovereignist structures against its leadership and the national policy it has consistently pursued.
"Among the exponents of those structures were the German Christian Schmidt, former US Ambassador Michael Murphy and their associates in political Sarajevo, under the control of pan-Islamist structures. The same forces that continuously seek to undermine Republika Srpska are those supporting the Ukrainian regime and the fratricidal war between Slavic peoples," the Centre said.
The Centre noted that BiH's consociational structure established by the Dayton Agreement allows for joint governance while preserving the constitutional autonomy of the entities and mechanisms for protecting the interests of the constituent peoples.
"The Serb people demonstrate their state-building awareness election after election, conscious that they must never again allow others and foreign interests to bring them to the brink of destruction. We therefore expect that continuity of government in Republika Srpska, based on the will of the people expressed in democratic elections, will contribute to continued stability and development of Srpska in the years ahead," the Centre said.
The statement said Republika Srpska's state-building policy would continue and that the coming years represented an opportunity to further strengthen Republika Srpska as what it described as a fortress and shield of Serb national identity, in accordance with international law and justice.
"Without strong leaders in Republika Srpska and Serbia, we cannot have a national policy that protects the interests of the Serb people and every citizen, both domestically and internationally, and the results of the general elections show that such a policy has been recognized," the Republika Srpska Centre for Social and Political Research concluded.
