BANJA LUKA, APRIL 18 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska Goran Selak, and the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia Nenad Vujić, agreed that General Ratko Mladić must be provided with adequate medical care and dignified treatment.
During a telephone conversation regarding General Mladić's health condition, it was agreed that Minister Vujić will visit the detention unit in The Hague on Monday to familiarize himself with the general's medical condition and detention circumstances.
Selak stated that Republika Srpska and the Republic of Serbia are acting in a coordinated manner and in accordance with the law, with the aim of protecting the rights of all their citizens.
General Mladić suffered a stroke on April 10. He had previously experienced multiple strokes, has serious cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, neurological damage, and kidney problems, which is why he has been hospitalized multiple times and undergone various medical and therapeutic procedures, including surgeries on his heart and leg.
The former commander of the Main Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska, General Ratko Mladić, is currently in the detention hospital in The Hague, where he is receiving palliative care due to his severe health condition.
He was arrested on May 26, 2011, in the village of Lazarevo near Zrenjanin, Serbia.
