BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 4 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić told SRNA that a new hospital in Trebinje will be officially opened tomorrow.
More than BAM 120 million has been invested in the project, and its operation will significantly improve healthcare services in the city, in Herzegovina, and across the region.
"It will be able to offer even more than what is currently standard practice at the existing hospital in Trebinje. That is why it is located at a crossroads of routes toward Nikšić, Herceg Novi, Dubrovnik, as well as toward eastern Herzegovina," Šeranić said.
Speaking about the services the new hospital will provide, Šeranić highlighted the angiology unit, which should completely eliminate the need for helicopter transport in cases involving such conditions.
"Oncology is gaining a new dimension through the oncology hospital and a significant improvement in capacity for oncology patients. We are transforming the hospital into a scientific - professional institution. The modular operating theatres are connected by cameras to the entire world. In this way, we are giving the hospital a new dimension," Šeranić emphasized.
He has added that the hospital is equipped with the latest modern medical equipment.
Šeranić stressed that the construction of the entire hospital was carried out within Republika Srpska.
"It was financed from the budget of Republika Srpska, amounting to a little over BAM 120 million. Local contractors and subcontractors carried out the work, and the hospital was designed in Srpska. We have the capacity to independently, as Republika Srpska, fully build a modern and new hospital such as this one in Trebinje," Šeranić said.
