ŠERANIĆ: INITIATIVE TO EXPAND HOSPITAL JUSTIFIED

BIJELJINA, AUGUST 25 /SRNA/ - The new Bijeljina Hospital building will have a new emergency department, as the existing one has insufficient capacity, as well as a new radiology and diagnostics department and a new department for consultation and specialist healthcare services /CSHS/, Republika Srpska Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić announced today.

Šeranić recalled that since Sveti Vračevi Hospital in Bijeljina began operating, the number of services provided has increased by around 75 percent.

"The number of surgeries has increased by 75 percent, which represents a huge increase and growth in the number of services," Šeranić told the press after a meeting with Director Mikajlo Lazić, which was also attended by Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić.

Šeranić noted that, for this reason, the Republika Srpska Government accepted the initiative put forward by Bijeljina Hospital to construct an extension to the existing building.

"We will standardize healthcare at the hospital here in Bijeljina with the healthcare provided through the new hospitals across Republika Srpska," Šeranić said.

He congratulated Bijeljina Hospital, where a new CT scanner was officially put into operation today, marking a step toward modernizing radiological diagnostics and improving healthcare for the population of the city and surrounding areas.

The scanner was officially put into operation by Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić, and Sveti Vračevi Hospital Director Mikajlo Lazić.

On August 13, the Republika Srpska Government adopted information on the initiative to expand the hospital's facilities and construct a new facility for Sveti Vračevi Hospital in Bijeljina.

The hospital's capacity will be increased by 188 beds, bringing the total to 434 beds, while the estimated size of the new building required for this purpose is 14,500 square meters. /end/am/zs/vos
