LAKTAŠI, AUGUST 29 /SRNA/ – The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and the Mayor of Laktaši Miroslav Bojić today ceremonially opened the Secondary School Center in this local community.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska Željka Stojičić as well as the director of the Secondary School Center, Danijela Stanišljević-Ivanović.

The ceremony marking the opening of the Secondary School Center, for the construction of which BAM 10.5 million were invested, was also attended by the Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers Srđan Amidžić, mayors and heads of other local communities, and numerous citizens.

Mayor of Laktaši Miroslav Bojić told SRNA that BAM 10.5 million had been invested in the construction of the facility, of which BAM six million were provided by the Government of Republika Srpska, and the remainder by the local community.

The director of the institution earlier told SRNA that 190 students were enrolled in the first enrollment cycle.

"Great interest in all offered programs showed that the school was already at the very beginning recognized as a desirable place for education," Ivanović said.

She noted that the number of enrolled students is in line with the planned number and structure of enrollment places, therefore achieving the basic goal of securing a stable foundation for the work and development of the school already with the first generation.

"Students are distributed into four fields – health care, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and economics – which provides diversity and alignment of the educational offer with contemporary needs. Such a structured enrollment plan has proven to be a well-balanced and justified decision, since we managed to attract the expected number of students and at the same time ensure even distribution across all classes," Ivanović explained.
