SACHS RECEIVES HONORARY DOCTORATE FOR ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 28 /SRNA/ - Acting Rector of the University of Banja Luka Ranko Škrbić today presented prominent American economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs with an honorary doctorate for his contribution to the development of economic relations and the peaceful resolution of international conflicts.

Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan also attended the honorary doctorate ceremony.

Also present were acting Director of the Republika Srpska Office for International Cooperation Ana Trišić Babić, Finance Minister Zora Vidović and SNSD Organizational Secretary Igor Dodik.

Sachs had earlier expressed his pleasure at being in Banja Luka, saying he was deeply honored to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Banja Luka.

Republika Srpska officials met with Sachs yesterday.
