ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 19 /SRNA/ – Road signs reading "Road of the Serb Victims of Stari Brod on the Drina" have been installed at several locations along the Lapišnica - Rogatica road, which is the official name given to this route.
It is about the section of the Lapišnica - Ljubogošta - Podromanija - Rogatica main road.
Istočno Sarajevo Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić previously told SRNA that the road section had been named the "Road of the Serb Victims of Stari Brod on the Drina" to serve as a lasting reminder to travellers of the Serb people's suffering and the attempts to eradicate them from the left bank of the Drina River, as well as the price paid for the survival.
Ćosić said the project had been implemented with the approval of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Republika Srpska Roads public enterprise, as well as with the blessing of His Eminence Hrizostom, Metropolitan of Dabar-Bosnia.
He emohasised that this memorial would remind every traveller passing along the route of the statistical fact that 3.21 million Serbs should now be living in the territory formerly encompassed by the Independent State of Croatia /NDH/ on the left bank of the Drina, whereas their current number is slightly less than one million.
"Every kilometre from Lapišnica to Rogatica serves as a reminder of the price of freedom and of the fact that the path we walk freely today bears the footprints of our people, who were driven towards the Drina with the aim of systematically eradicating everything with Serb prefix," Ćosić said.
