RETURN TO ORIGINAL CONSTITUTION SET AS KEY POLITICAL PRIORITY

PALE, MARCH 1 /SRNA/ - Returning to the founding Constitution of Republika Srpska should be a political priority, it was concluded today at the Assembly session of the Association "Creators of Republika Srpska", with an appeal for the process to begin by establishing a realistic legal-political platform that will bring together all political forces, both government and opposition.

The Association emphasizes the need to provide and define guarantees of freedom not only for Serbs, but for all citizens living in Republika Srpska.

"The new constitution will not endanger any constituent people, just as the first Constitution proclaimed on February 28 1992 did not," the Association stated after the Assembly session in Pale.

It was concluded that the new act should constitutionally designate the status of the municipality of Pale as the main seat, while declaring Banja Luka the capital city of Republika Srpska.

The Association stresses that Republika Srpska is a constitutionally regulated community, not a political improvisation or the product of hasty decisions.

"Its legitimacy lies with the people, and its legality in the Constitution and state institutions," the conclusions state.
