BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ — The death of General Ratko Mladić has brought back memories for many people in Republika Srpska of a difficult and fateful period in which the history, freedom and survival of the Serbian people were at stake, President Milorad Dodik said, adding that he received the news of the Serb general's death with sadness.

Dodik said that the emotion felt by the Serb people remains stronger than all attempts to erase what people carry in their collective memory.

"In Republika Srpska, relation toward General Mladić is a matter of deeply personal feelings for many families and soldiers, and a return to a time of great trials, suffering and struggle for the Serbian people. A time that remains etched in our collective memory. Rest in peace, General,” Dodik posted on X.
