BANJA LUKA, JUNE 3 /SRNA/ – Socialist Party MP in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Ognjen Kuljić told SRNA that Republika Srpska must not become a territory used to solve migration issues caused by the global policies of powerful countries.
Kuljić emphasized that reports about the UK government considering the option of sending rejected asylum seekers to BiH raise serious questions about the sovereignty and security of Republika Srpska.
According to him, Republika Srpska must take a clear and decisive stance on such initiatives, as these policies could bring numerous security, economic, and social challenges.
"It is our duty to protect the interests of our people and preserve the stability of Republika Srpska. Therefore, I call on all competent institutions to take a firm stand against such proposals and to clearly state that decisions concerning the fate of Republika Srpska are made here, not in foreign centers of power," Kuljić stated.
He noted that, as someone who comes from the people and represents the citizens of Srpska, he believes such matters cannot be decided without the consent of Republika Srpska's institutions and without a clear understanding of the possible consequences.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said he is considering the establishment of return centers for rejected asylum seekers in Western Balkan countries, including BiH, Serbia, and North Macedonia, The Times reported.
