EAST SARAJEVO, AUGUST 13 /SRNA/ - Sociologist Vladimir Vasić told SRNA that the upcoming referendum in Republika Srpska will be a confirmation of the will of the people already expressed in the previous general elections, and warned that if the institution of the President of Srpska is not protected now, they will try to take away the Serb people's property and identity.
"The issue of property, the history of Republika Srpska, the writing of textbooks will come up... Do you now want to replace the elected representatives of Republika Srpska with your decree? Well, you won't, sir, you simply can't," Vasić told Christian Schmidt.
He added that, if necessary, referendums in Republika Srpska will be held regularly.
Vasić believes that, at this moment is the preservation of political and national unity in Republika Srpska is of crucial importance.
"This is not a party and political fight at all, but a national struggle. We all have to be determined, put aside all the divisions we have - political, ideological, whatever - and say simply `no`. We don’t want someone to determine our future for centuries, and we know whose grandfathers were here for 40 years. Well, it's enough," Vasić pointed out.
He pointed out that the current moves from Sarajevo are trying to nullify the will of the people of Republika Srpska, who have already expressed their position in the general elections.
"Citizens had a referendum a few years ago in the October general elections, and then they clearly said `yes` - to both the President of Republika Srpska and Milorad Dodik. I see no reason why that will should be questioned, that is, I see - because this is BiH," said Vasić.
According to him, certain structures are trying to come into harmony with the unconstitutional and unfounded activities coming from Sarajevo, but the people's reaction is clear - the people are gathering and defending Republika Srpska.
"Even those who were not for SNSD and Dodik, will now be for him. Here, let the referendum be called now, even those who never came out, will come out to vote and they will vote as they want and according to their will," said Vasić.
