REFERENDUM NEEDED AS A REFLECTION OF THE PEOPLE'S UNITY IN SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA, August 15 /SRNA/ - Senator of Republika Srpska Srđa Trifković stated to SRNA that a referendum is needed as a reflection of the people's unity following the verdict against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and the decision of the BiH Central Election Commission, stressing that opposition parties have acted ambivalently on this matter.

"I think it would be a good signal to them that it is now necessary to close ranks. This is truly about Republika Srpska, not Milorad Dodik," said Trifković, who is a professor of international relations.

He considers it particularly ironic that the referendum and the expression of the people's will will be condemned by those who remained silent when unconstitutional decisions were adopted - the very decisions on which the case against the President of Republika Srpska was initiated.

"The same people who will condemn the referendum as illegal and unconstitutional support a verdict based on illegal and unconstitutional grounds. This refers to the powers of the high representative, his status, and the legitimacy of the BiH Court," Trifković emphasized.
