BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 13 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said today that it is necessary to better organize the power utility system by reducing costs and ensuring greater control of operations.
"The task concerning cost reduction requires that all subsidiaries of Elektroprivreda Srpske /Electric Power Company/ submit their plans within 15 days," Minić emphasized at a press conference following the thematic session of the Government.
One of the conclusions, he said, concerns establishing a hierarchy of control within the company to ensure oversight of procurement and employees.
"A complete transformation is necessary," Minić stated, referring to the workforce in Elektroprivreda.
Minić stated that electricity production in Elektroprivreda’s generation facilities is more expensive than the price at which electricity is supplied to consumers.
"I’m an optimist. I believe this situation will be resolved; we just need to roll up our sleeves," Minić said.
He added that investment in the Republika Srpska power system is essential.
"Especially when it comes to thermal power plants. It is also necessary to complete all ongoing activities related to the construction of hydropower plants, as well as to begin building solar power plants using our own capacities," Minić emphasized.
