BANJA LUKA, DECEMBER 20 /SRNA/ – A large number of workers who left the region and went to the European Union states are now considering returning, as life in the EU has become expensive and insecure, labour market expert Dominik Raškaj told SRNA.

Raškaj pointed out that leaving the workforce is no longer just a matter of wages, but of security and stability.

“For a family of four to live a normal life abroad, at least EUR 4,000 per month are needed, often requiring two jobs. The security situation is very poor,” Raškaj emphasized in the SRNA podcast.

He has noted that European countries today are facing serious economic problems, high inflation, and a significant decline in quality of life.

“The European Union is not what it was 30 years ago. It used to be a symbol of security. Today, fears prevail there – from economic to migrant-related ones. Many people no longer feel safe,” Raškaj stressed.

Speaking about the European integration process, Raškaj expressed support for those in BiH institutions who, as he said, oppose unfounded or imposed conditions coming from Brussels.

“We must take care of our own interests. We are not in a position to accept everything that is put on the table,” Raškaj said.

He has stated that agriculture is a major opportunity for Republika Srpska and that investment in production is necessary, noting that BiH has great potential to access numerous global markets.
