PROTECTING PROPERTY RIGHTS IS TOP NATIONAL INTEREST OF SERBS IN BiH

PALE, JULY 1 /SRNA/ – The Creators of Republika Srpska Association has expressed full support for the comprehensive analysis and principled positions of the Republika Srpska Association of Lawyers regarding property ownership in BiH, saying that the protection of property has always been and remains the most important vital national interest of the Serb people in BiH.

"We fully agree with the position that property ownership is not a political issue but a constitutional and legal matter the answer of which lies within the existing constitutional order established by the Dayton Peace Accords," the Association said in a statement today.

According to the Association, this issue will become a decisive point in the near future around which an even more intense struggle will be waged between what it described as Bosnian unitarists, Western globalists, and Republika Srpska's sovereign right for its people to remain on their own land and not surrender homes defended with the lives of its finest sons and daughters.

"It is only natural to expect unity and consensus among all political parties in Republika Srpska on this vital issue, as it represents a red line of defense from which there can be no retreat," the statement, signed by Association President Stevan Medić, said.

The Association announced that it will organize a thematic assembly in September to discuss all aspects of property ownership, with representatives of all political parties in Republika Srpska, as well as constitutional law experts, invited to attend.

The Republika Srpska Association of Lawyers previously stated that property ownership in BiH is not a political issue to be negotiated, nor a matter of the country's European future to be resolved through pragmatic compromise, but rather a constitutional and legal issue the answer of which is already contained in the existing constitutional order.

"Our position is consistent and will not change. Property belongs to the entities, Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, and not to any level of state government. Property is one of the key constituent elements of statehood, and for Republika Srpska it represents the foundation of its constitutional subjectivity," the Association of Lawyers said.
